The Challenge

Farmers Box are an online fruit and vegetable company that sells quality fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. As a new company, they entered a market dominated by two large grocery chains and had to build trust with customers to get them to try their produce. Even after they launched there was a lot of scepticism as to if the company was real or a scam - the prices were that low!

The Insight

There is something about fresh fruit and vegetables that lifts your spirits. However, it is a fact of life that in New Zealand fruits and vegetables are expensive and we all have to pay too much. You might be able to get cheaper produce but at the expense of quality, which leads to disappointment… If only you could trust someone to provide and choose the best produce, the way you would, at an astonishing price.

The Action

Contagion created an entirely new brand that felt honest, fun and good value for money that New Zealand families could trust. A new website, packaging and collateral were created using our in-house designers and photographer. In October 2023 we launched the brand campaign that included OOH, social, display, online video, and CRM and it swiftly took off!

The Results

Together, we were able to launch this new brand with so much interest that Farmers Box could not keep up with the demand and had to shut their website on multiple occasions to facilitate the incoming sales. Over time we've helped Farmers Box grow both as a business and across Auckland, and are now expanding into the Waikato. We continue to support their consistent sales with radio, social and CRM, and help more and more families enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables at an incredible price.

Auckland Sales Results (8 weeks post-launch): Reached 22% of Household Shoppers, and achieved an 11% conversion rate and 49% retention rate.

Hamilton Sales Results (8 weeks post-launch): Reached 16% of Household Shoppers, of which drove a 34% conversion rate and 43% retention rate.

We exceeded all financial KPI’s and have continued to expand since launch.
